Atlanta rapper Dolla has signed a deal with Jive Records and Akon's Konvict Muzik where he will release his debut, ATLA.

Before becoming Akon's latest find, Dolla (real name: Roderick Anthony Burton II) was a member of an Atlanta-based group called The Rascals, which caught the attention of heavyweights such as Missy Elliot and Diddy. After making connects with the aforementioned moguls, he ventured into the fashion industry, working for Diddy as a Sean John model. As a model, his image covered the Hyatt Hotel billboard in Los Angeles, but it was his undeniable rapping skills that impressed Akon in the studio that sparked a relationship that eventually turned into a record deal.

So far, the young rapper landed his single "Feelin' Myself" on the "Step It Up" soundtrack and continues to push it even further, as he prepares his debut album.

As far as his musical style, he's versatile. That's why Akon was so taken back by his skills. Dolla refuses to conform to the mold the music world has become so accustomed to. "I make 'me' music." Dolla explained. "I can do street music or pop music, but I make music from the heart -- meaningful songs, songs with substance. I rap about the struggle, like being five years old, seeing your father killed before your eyes and instantly becoming a man on the streets."

By the age of 10, Dolla found himself hustling the streets to support his family. Still a boy, he was made privy to the trials of men.

Jive Records and Konvict Muzik are planning to release his first single, "Who The F--- Is That?" featuring Akon and T-Pain soon.

There is not scheduled date for the release of his debut ATLA as of press time.
